Service Projects
2007-2008 Current Service Projects

1. School Supply Drive--On August 8, 2007, we collected school supplies to donate to our Ozark School District for children in need. We donated 26 spiral notebooks, 3 composition notebooks, 7 packs of paper, 12 folders, 38 boxes of crayons, 134 pencils, 40 pens, 8 rulers, 52 glue sticks, 26 bottles of glue, 5 packs of markers, 4 school boxes, 6 pink erasers, 80 pencil toppers, 4 packs of Sharpies, 1 pack of Expo markers, 5 pairs of scissors, 2 packs of tab dividers, 1 pack of sheet protectors, 1-1 1/2" binder, 2 boxes of Kleenex, and one pack of watercolors.

2.Springfield Walk Now for Autism--On September 8, 2007, one of our members had a team, Lilly's Lopers, (in honor of her daughter) which participated in the event to fund Autism research.. We combined our July and August raffle proceeds resulting in a donation of $50.


3.Thanksgiving Food Drive--On November 14, 2007, we collected non-perishable food items to benefit Least of These food pantry in Nixa. We donated 182 non-perishable food items.

4.Adopt a Family/"Evening of Giving"--On November 18, 2007, we participated in the Simon Mall's "Evening of Giving". We sold tickets in advance at $10 each with $3 going to the mall's charity, Simon Youth Foundation, and $7 coming back to our MOMS Club® for each ticket. We raised a total of $260. We submitted a check for $78 to Simon Youth Foundation which left us with $182. We combined this with our December raffle, giving us a total of $252. The money was used to purchase gifts for local children in need for the holidays. Several items were also donated by MOMS Club® members.

5.Operation Half-Pint--On January 9, 2008, we donated a total of $50 to this program, which provides milk during snack time to under-privileged children in our local school district. We raised the money through raffles held at our monthly business meetings.

6.
Ronald McDonald House--On February 8, 2008, we prepared and served a meal to the residents of our local Ronald McDonald House as part of their Family Dinner Program. The program's goal is to allow families of seriously ill or injured children to relax and enjoy an evening meal at their “home away from home” without the stress of planning and preparing it themselves. All the food was donated by MOMS Club® members.

7.MOTHER-TO-MOTHER FUND--Throughout the 2007-2008 Moms club fiscal year we collected funds to donate to this program. In December 2007 T-shirts were made for our members. The shirts feature our name with emblem on the left front breast and a larger version on back with the web site underneath. Shirts were made by TJ Sales and cost $15 unless an XXL or XXXL size was needed. We sold a total of 10 t-shirts. We raised $161.75. The cost to our chapter was $132.15. Resulting in 29.60 to donate. We also have accumulated $24.00 in Price Cutter community bucks going to this fund. Our May raffle proceeds, $20.00, was also included. Resulting in a total donation of $73.60 going to the Mother-to-Mother fund. There was no monetary gain for our chapter.

8.Ronald McDonald House--We collected  about 3 pounds of soda can tabs to help the Ronald McDonald House charity.  There was no cost to our chapter.  There was no monetary gain for our chapter.

9.Box Tops for Education & Campbell's Soup Labels-We collected  336 Box Tops worth 10¢ each, as well as 156  Campbell's Soup labels for our local schools.  There was no cost to our chapter.  There was no monetary gain for our chapter.

10.Children's Smile Center--A new not-for-profit dentist in Ozark who caters to children on Medicaid.  We collected 133 unopened kid's meal toys or those in new condition.   These will be used as prizes so they can save money by not having to purchase them. There was no cost to our chapter.  There was no monetary gain for our chapter.

11.Ozark Elementary Schools' Literacy Libraries--On June 21st we had a silent auction at our Annual Spring Banquet.  We raised $474.50. We combined this with our monthly raffle in June for a total of $495.50. Their was no cost to our chapter. Their was no monetary gain for our chapter.





2006-2007 Service Projects

1. School Supply Drive--On August 9, 2006, we collected school supplies to donate to our Ozark School District for children in need. We donated 22 spiral notebooks, 36 folders, 22 boxes of crayons, 70 pencils, 16 bottles of glue, 20 glue sticks, 8 rulers, 4 packs of markers, 3 backpacks, 4 school boxes, 4 pairs of scissors, 3 erasers, and 10 red pens. We also collected 2 each of: packs of colored pencils, rugs and watercolors.

2. The Miracles for Macy Morgan Benefit Festival
--On September 16, 2006 we had a fund raiser at Price Cutter Plus in Ozark to benefit the Morgan Family whose daughter, Macy, was undergoing treatment for cancer at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. We were able to collect $3217.58. The cost to our chapter was $42.95. Resulting in a donation of $3174.63.

3. State Luncheon--On September 23, 2006 four members of our chapter went to the yearly MOMS Club® State Luncheon held in St. Louis. We raised a total of $254.50. This was done through monetary donations of $205, proceeds of our September meeting raffle of $9.50, and sales of cups and saucers equaling $40.00. All items used were donated. Funds were used for lodging and registration fees.

4. Food Pantry--On November 8, 2006, we collected non-perishable food items to donate to Least of These Food Pantry in Nixa, before the holiday season. We donated 162 non-perishable food items.

5. Adopt a Family/"Evening of Giving"--On November 19, 2006, we participated in the Simon Mall's "Evening of Giving". We sold tickets in advance at $10 each with $3 going to the mall's charity, Simon Youth Foundation, and $7 coming back to our MOMS Club® for each ticket. We raised a total of $155, including $15 monetary donations. For the holidays, we adopted a local family through Least of These. Several items were donated by MOMS Club® members. The money was used to purchase gifts and food for the family. They were also treated to an all expense paid dinner at Rib Crib courtesy of Rib Crib.

6. Mother-To-Mother Fund®--The Mother-To-Mother Fund® is a special charitable fund organized by the International MOMS Club® and supported by local chapters, benefiting mothers experiencing devastating personal emergencies or disasters. We collected funds throughout the year. On September 16,2006 we sold 14 t-shirts. We raised $212.25. The cost to our chapter was $171.11, resulting in $41.14 for the fund. Our second round of t-shirt sales raised $200. The cost to our chapter was $185.85, resulting in $14.15 for the fund. We also collected $25 in Price Cutter Community Bucks. We made a donation which totaled $80.29.

8. Ronald McDonald House--We collected 3.5 pounds of soda can tabs to help the Ronald McDonald House charity.

9. Box Tops for Education & Campbell's Soup Labels--We collected 613 Box Tops worth 10¢ each, as well as 135 Campbell's Soup labels for our local schools.

10.Christian County Library--On June 23, 2007, we had a silent auction at our annual banquet. We raised $588.00. We combined this with our monthly raffles for April, May and June for a total of $632.00. The cost to our chapter was $23.80, resulting in a donation of $608.20 to benefit The Christian County Library Children's Section. With this money they were able to buy many new learning toys and puzzles.
